Bayport Tanzania recently launched one of the most innovative products yet in the Bayport stable. Aimed at helping customers to increase their incomes, the new loan is an answer to the transport problems faced by civil servants, such as teachers, police officers and health workers, in rural areas.
Bayport Tanzania’s Business Manager, Thabit Mndeme, explains that the new motorcycle loan includes a free helmet, three free services and registration of the vehicle when the customer takes delivery. “We have also negotiated significant discounts with dealers, which will be passed on to the customers.” Furthermore, in terms of the three years’ comprehensive insurance included in the deal, Bayport will facilitate the claims process in case of theft or an accident, provided the customer has paid the upfront insurance payment.
“Most civil servants live in remote areas and find it extremely difficult to access transport, which affects their productivity,” says Thabit. “The idea behind this loan is basically to make the lives of workers in rural areas easier.” Although civil servants are the majority of Bayport Tanzania’s customers, workers in the private sector can also apply for the motorcycle loan, which became available on 20 October 2014.
The motorcycle loans are offered at all 80 Bayport branches throughout Tanzania and have to be repaid within three years.
